Murder investigation begins after Cork shooting

Gardaí in Cork have officially launched a murder inquiry following the shooting dead yesterday of Darren Falsely in Carrigaline.

The 36-year-old was shot dead after he went to answer a call at the front door of his house at Ashbourne Court in the town.

The Assistant State Pathologist Dr Margaret Bolster began a post mortem on the body of the father of two at around 10am and it is expected to conclude at around 2pm this afternoon.

Gardaí said that they are keeping an open mind in relation to their investigations.

They are appealing for witnesses and an incident room has been set up at Togher Garda Station.

They are also studying hours of CCTV footage from commercial premises in the town in the hope of identifying the killers.
