Commission reports sharp rise in phone hacking in Ireland

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of reported phone hacking cases in Ireland.

There has been a dramatic increase in the number of reported phone hacking cases in Ireland.

According to figures from the Commission for Communications Regulation, there has been 21 documented cases of phone hacking since January - that is the same total for all of last year.

It is understood in many of these cases the hackers have illegally accessed a person's phone network in order to make their own calls.
