Norris admits presidential chances are 'slim'

Senator David Norris has said he will continue in his campaign for the presidency.

That is despite the resignation of key members of his campaign over a letter he wrote to an Israeli court in 1997, seeking clemency for his former partner, who had been convicted of having sex with a 15-year-old boy.

The Senator wrote the letter on Seanad paper and described Ezra Yizhak Nawi as a "trustworthy, good and moral person".

Senator Norris released the letter himself and has said he is still committed to remaining in the presidential race, but admitted that his campaign was in "serious trouble" and that his chances are now "slim".
