Brother and a son ordered to stay away from woman

A brother and a son of Veronica McGrath have been ordered to stay away from her at all times.

Ms McGrath was 18 when her father Brian McGrath was killed by her mother Vera and her husband Colin Pinder at Coole, Co Westmeath in 1987.

Now aged 41, Veronica McGrath, who saw the beheaded corpse of her father burn on a bonfire, sat quietly at Mullingar District Court as her brother Andrew and son Bernard pleaded guilty to breaching protection orders she had taken against them.

Following the direction of Judge Patrick Clyne, they must now stay sober in public while on 12 month's probation.

They must also stay away from Ms McGrath at all times and off the premises of her house at Lower Coole.

Both men were drunk when they entered that house at 11pm on May 13 and put her in fear as they threatened violence.

Judge Clyne agreed their homes being so close together was not ideal, saying all it took was one step over the threshold to breach the court order.

Bernard spent 11 days in custody after he breached a court order in May.
