Woman killed in crash near Donegal town

Gardaí are at the scene of a fatal two-car collision in Donegal town.

The collision occurred shortly before 10am today in the townland of Ardleenagh.

One woman has died and two other women have been taken to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment for their injuries, which are not thought to be life-threatening.

The old road between Donegal town and Ballyshannon is closed and is expected to remain closed until this afternoon

Motorists are advised that diversions are in place at Tullyearl junction and Ardchicken.

It is the third fatal incident on the country's roads in the past 24 hours, following the deaths of two men in incidents in Galway and Wexford overnight.
