Man dies after Galway road accident

A 42-year-old man has died after he was knocked down in Co Galway.

It happened at Ballinahowen, three miles west of Barna, on the Galway to Spiddal road at 1.30am today.

The driver of the car, a 19-year-old man, escaped injury in the crash.

The road remains closed this morning ahead of a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
