Robinson travels to crisis-hit Kenya

Mary Robinson is travelling to Northern Kenya today to highlight the plight of up to 12 million people in East Africa who are facing a hunger crisis.

The worst drought to hit the region in decades has led to severe food shortages in southern Somalia, northeastern Kenya and in Ethiopia.

The former president's visit comes at a time when the UN is expected to declare famine in the region.
