Ten held in dissidents crackdown

Ten men have been arrested in Dublin in connection with dissident republican activity.

Ten suspected dissident republicans have been arrested over an attempted extortion racket.

The gang, all aged between the mid-20s and 40s, were detained in the Balbriggan area of north county Dublin at about 10pm last night.

The suspects have been detained at Santry, Swords, Blanchardstown, Pearse Street and Malahide Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939.
