Irish Kidney Association appoints new chairman

A Laois man has been appointed the national chairman of the Irish Kidney Association.

Martin Doody, from Portlaoise, took up his post on July 2 for a two-year term.

He joined the Irish Kidney Association in 1995 when he was undergoing dialysis treatment at Cork University Hospital.

Two years later he had a successful simultaneous kidney and pancreas transplant at Beaumont Hospital in Dublin.
