Flanagan: Fine Gael members in Roscommon should quit

Every member of Fine Gael in Roscommon and the surrounding areas is being urged to quit the party.

Independent TD Luke "Ming" Flanagan is adamant that the fight to retain Emergency services at Roscommon hospital is not lost.

Fine Gael is expected to remove the whip from Roscommon TD Denis Naughten next week, after he voted against the government in a Dáil vote on the issue last night.

But Deputy Flanagan said if others follow Deputy Naughten's lead the Government will reverse the cuts.

"Every member of Fine Gael in Roscommon and the surrounding areas who are affected by this dire decision should tender their resignations," Mr Flanagan said.

"It is up to Fine Gael to decide who is more important? Going down this road or listening to the people who have been affected.

"That I belive will have an effect and will send shockwaves through Fine Gael, and they will reverse this decision."
