Tánaiste confirms intention to change bailout deal
Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore has today confirmed the Government will push to change certain elements of the bailout deal with the EU and IMF.
Eamon Gilmore's comments at the ICTU conference in Killarney in Co Kerry come hours after senior officials from the EU, the IMF and the ECB arrived in Ireland to review our compliance with the terms of the bailout deal.
This third review of the implementation process will centre on the scale of cuts required in December's budget.
Speaking to Radio Kerry, Eamon Gilmore said that he is adamant the country is on track, and that the issue of burning senior bondholders is still firmly on the agenda.
"We want to change some of the terms of the agreement that exists with Ireland,
"The troika is visiting Ireland this week and they will be looking obviously at what is taking place
"We're very satisfied that the country is on track with the programme to date and there will be a continuing dialogue with the troika, and particularly with the ECB in relation to the issue of bondholders."
