Bruton: Agencies merger will save €170k a year
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton has said merging the National Consumer Agency and the Competition Authority will save the State €170,000 a year on board fees alone.
The new Consumer and Competition Authority has been given the green light by the Government and the agency's management will be reduced to a chairman with two to six board members.
The Minister said the new body will be a consumer rights enforcer with real teeth to tackle anti-consumer practices.
