Two questioned in connection with Limerick 'tiger' kidnapping

Gardaí in Limerick are questioning a man and a woman in connection with a so-called 'tiger' kidnapping in Newcastlewest last week.

Up to €100,000 was handed over after a member of staff at the local post office was threatened and locked in the boot of his car for almost eight hours.

The man and woman - aged 27 and 25 - were detained during a pre-planned operation near Gort in Co Galway this morning.

They are being questioned at Henry Street and Roxboro Road Garda Stations where they are detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act and Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
