Investigation launched into death of man in Co Louth

The Garda Ombudsman Commission has launched an investigation into the death of a man in Co Louth last night.

The man in his early 30s had walked into a shop in the Green Acres area of Dundalk at around 9.30pm in a distressed state.

Gardaí were called to the scene and detained the man, after which he became unwell.

Emergency services were called and he was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda where he was pronounced dead.

A post mortem examination will be carried out today and a GSOC investigation has been launched.
