A body - believed to be one of the so called IRA disappeared - has been exhumed from a church graveyard in Scottstown in Co Monaghan.

There is speculation the remains could be those of Columba McVeigh, who was 17 when he was abducted and murdered by the IRA in 1975.

It will take some weeks before the formal identification process is complete.

Oliver McVeigh said it would be welcome news if the body turned out to be that of his brother, as it would mean his family could give him "a Christian burial".
