Gardaí investigate apparent hit-and-run in Monaghan

A man has died after an apparent hit-and-run in Co Monaghan this morning.

A 20-year-old man was in a collision with a vehicle and his body was discovered by a passerby on a minor road in the area at 7.30am this morning.

It is believed the death happened some time after 3am when the man was dropped off in the area by a taxi.

Gardaí in Monaghan are investigating the incident which happened at Lemgare, Clontibret Co Monaghan.

The area has been sealed off for an examination by Garda Forensics and the body remains at the scene.

The State Pathologist's office has been notified.
