Man dies following Mullingar crash

A man in his 20s has died following a two-vehicle crash in Mullingar this afternoon.

The accident happened on the N52 Mullingar to Tullamore road south of Mullingar at around 4.40pm.

The driver and sole occupant of one of the cars, a male in his mid-20s, was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar where he died from his injuries this evening.

The two male occupants of the second car were also taken to Mullingar Hospital with injuries described as not life-threatening.

The road is currently closed pending completion of an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.
