Burton launches tax and social welfare advisory group

The Minister for Social Protection, Joan Burton, has announced the establishment of a new Advisory Group on Tax and Social Welfare.

The group will provide expert opinion on a number of specific issues around the operation and interaction of the tax and social protection systems.

It will also recommend cost-effective solutions as to how employment disincentives can be improved.

This new body will also examine child and family income supports, such as child benefit and unemployment payments and make recommendations.
