A 30 year old Dublin man is due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court today for murdering a father-of-two more than five years ago.

A 30 year old Dublin man is due to go on trial at the Central Criminal Court today for murdering a father-of-two more than five years ago.

Aidan Finnegan, with an address at Whitestown Avenue, Hartstown in Blanchardstown, appeared briefly in the court today, where he pleaded not guilty to murdering Darragh McCormack on February 11, 2006.

The 22 year old was shot near his home at Whitestown Park in Hartstown at around 9.30pm at night. He was rushed to hospital but died from his injuries a short time later.

A jury of five men and seven women has been sworn in for the case, which is expected to take two weeks before Mr Justice Garrett Sheehan.
