Taoiseach condemns Belfast violence

Taoiseach Enda Kenny has today joined in condemning the violence in East Belfast over the past two nights.

Police say the sectarian clashes around the Short Strand are the worst in a decade.

As many as 700 people took to the streets, shots were fired and a photographer received leg injuries as a result.

A 20-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with last night's clashes.

Police say the UVF is responsible for the violence.
