Doherty to propose TD wage cuts in the Dáil
Sinn Féin wants the Taoiseach Enda Kenny to take a €60,000 pay cut.
The party is also proposing cuts to the salaries of ministers, the Ceann Comhairle, TDs and Senators in what the party has said would be "a show of leadership".
The party's finance spokesman Pearse Doherty has said there has been "a dramatic decline" in
the disposable income of the vast majority of people, and well-paid public representatives need to show solidarity with them.
Mr Doherty is going to introduce a Bill into the Dáil today proposing pay cuts for politicians.
However, he said the reductions would not affect the take-home pay of Sinn Féin TDs who receive the average industrial wage.
