Dublin residents urged to conserve water

Dublin City Council is warning residents to conserve water as levels in the county's reservoirs remain critically low, despite the recent heavy rainfall.

The lower than average rainfall in recent months has led to a reduction in the volume of raw water available for treatment from the reservoirs at Poulaphouca, Roundwood and Bohernabreena.

The Council said that up to 10 continuous rain days would be required to bring reservoirs up to the required level.

On average each person in the Greater Dublin Region uses over 150 litres of water per day.
