FG accepts Cox membership application

Pat Cox's application to become a member of Fine Gael has been approved by the party.

Mr Cox is a former Progressive Democrat TD and a former President of the European Parliament.

He is now expected to seek the Fine Gael nomination for the presidential election this autumn.

Fine Gael MEPs Mairead McGuinness and Gay Mitchell are already seeking the party's nomination in the race for the Áras.
