Survey links unemployment with rising mental health problems
Unemployment is being linked to rising mental health problems for men in a new survey.
The Institute of Public Health in Ireland said it surveyed a range of men's frontline organisations north and south of the border, and found that 93% of them linked mental health problems with unemployment and the recession.
It is warning that the rise in unemployment has led to men suffering from high levels of stress and anxiety as well as alcohol and drug dependency.
Associate Director Owen Metcalfe says men are less likely to look for help.
