Cashel mourns schoolboy drowning victim

The community of Cashel in Co Tipperary is in shock today after a schoolboy lost his battle for life having being rescued from the River Suir.

Dean Byrne, 13, got into difficulties while swimming with friends yesterday afternoon.

The alarm was raised at 4.15pm and the Coast Guard was quickly at the scene.

The boy was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital via helicopter where it is understood he was pronounced dead.
