Bruton indicates JLC-reform may only apply to new workers
The Enterprise and Jobs Minister has indicated that any reform of JLCs may only apply to newly hired workers.
Richard Bruton will complete a consultation programme on the Joint Labour Committees, or wage agreements, today which could pave the way for changes to the wages and conditions of 200,000 workers.
Today, Minister Bruton hinted the reforms may not apply to existing staff. Speaking to 98FM News, he said he was not worried that businesses would simply let go, and rehire, their employees as a result.
"Employers do not intend to change existing contracts, but they do believe that businesses need to be flexible at a difficult time," he said.
