McAleese honoured for contribution to Ireland

President Mary McAleese has been honoured by the Women's Executive Network for her contribution to Ireland.

The 2,700-strong group named the President one of Ireland's Most Powerful women at a dinner in the Convention Centre this evening.

Speaking at the dinner, the President said striving for equality was "a social and economic imperative".
