Man suffers severe burns in Dublin gas explosion

A man has been seriously injured in a gas explosion in Dublin city centre.

It happened at a flat at the Pearse House complex on Pearse Street at around 4.30pm.

The victim, who is in his fifties, has been brought to St James' hospital, suffering from severe burn injuries.

The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination, but Gardaí say they are not treating the incident as suspicious.
