Gardaí in Galway are continuing their appeal for information this morning, following the assault on a woman in the early hours of yesterday.

The victim - who is from the UK - was out with friends for a hen party in the city the night before. It is understood the incident happened in the Newcastle area.

The woman was brought to University Hospital Galway for treatment for the injuries sustained in the attack.

Gardaí say they particularly want to talk to the driver of a red Toyota Avensis taxi with a 04 reg number which is believed to have picked a number of people from outside Coyote's nightclub at around 3am.

They also want to speak to the taxi driver who picked up the victim - who was said it be wearing a red jumpsuit - and a man from the vicinity of the nightclub, dropping off the fare in the Newcastle area.

Investigators are also asking members of the public who may have any information to contact Galway Garda station on 091-538000.
