Cork City Marathon to take place today

Up to 10,000 runners are warming up this morning ahead of today's Cork City Marathon, with 2,000 expected to complete the full course.

The marathon will raise more than €3m for charity.

This year, participants in the Bord Gáis Energy Cork City Marathon are being offered the opportunity to reduce their carbon footprint by wearing recycled t-shirts.

Organisers have given all of those running the 26.2 mile course an Under Armour Performance Catalyst T-shirt, made from just four recycled plastic bottles.
