INMO: Nurse job cuts 'in breach of Croke Park Agreement'

The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is holding urgent talks with HSE management in Cork today in an effort to reverse the decision to cut 52 agency nurses and midwives at two Cork hospitals.

The HSE plans to axe these jobs at CUH and Cork University Maternity Hospital, from this Wednesday, in order to cut costs.

But the INMO is warning that patient safety will be jeopardised if the plan goes ahead.

Industrial Relations Officer with the INMO, Patsy Doyle, said the job cuts are in breach of the Croke Park agreement, as the decision was made without proper consultation.
