Coastguard ordered to vessel off south coast

Kerry's Valentia Coastguard is co-coordinating the rescue of an injured fisherman from a vessel off the south coast.

The man, who is Portuguese, hit his head and fell unconscious aboard a French fishing vessel 60 miles south of Fastnet Rock.

Shannon Helicopter has been ordered to the scene.

The fisherman is to be airlifted to Cork University Hospital.
