Staff at Fáilte Ireland have been left red-faced after adverts demoted the English Queen to the rank of Princess.

The radio ads to promote the Queen's visit here next week downgraded Elizabeth II from Her Majesty to Her Royal Highness.

The mistake also appeared on the Discover Ireland website.

Under royal protocol, the Queen is referred to as Her Majesty, while a princess is known as Her Royal Highness.
