A vast majority - 83% - of us do not think the current television licence system offers value for money, according to a survey on TV viewing habits, carried out by Magnet Networks.

The study also reveals 71% of Irish people now watch TV programmes on their laptops and PCs.

The survey confirms the enthusiasm for smartphones - a third of the 1,000 respondents now own one.

The study also highlights a link between TV viewing and social media sites - 29% of those questioned have used Facebook or Twitter to comment on a television show while watching it.
