Man held in Belfast murder investigation

Police investigating a murder in Belfast have arrested a man in his 30s.

The victim of the fatal stabbing in the Clarawood area in the east of the city has been named by detectives as 31-year-old Richard Hicking.

His body was discovered in a flat at around 12.30pm yesterday.

A post-mortem examination is to be carried out.

Officers appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

The man arrested in connection with the murder is being held at Musgrave Street police station.

Officers from the Serious Crime Branch said the man is helping with their inquiries.

DUP East Belfast spokesman Robin Newton said the murder was a cause of concern for the community.

“I am appealing for anyone who has any small piece of information to help the PSNI in order that the person who carried out this dreadful murder is brought before the courts,” he said.
