Wrongly freed man faces murder quiz after Down death

A man mistakenly freed from prison last year and wanted by police leading a murder hunt has been arrested.

Dmytro Grytsunov, 29, suffered a fatal chest wound when shots were fired in the Rooney Park area of Kilkeel, Co Down, last Saturday night in what is believed to have been a row between two groups of foreign nationals.

The suspect was being held on charges including rape when he was released by mistake from Maghaberry Prison in Lisburn, Co Antrim last October.

The 27-year-old was arrested by gardaí, working in co-operation with the PSNI, in the Swords area of north Dublin last night.

A 22-year-old man, who was also being tracked by detectives, was arrested by gardaí on Wednesday when he made inquiries regarding a passport application at Pearse Street garda station in central Dublin.

Both men are being held under Section 5 of the Criminal Justice Act at Pearse Street garda station, where they can be detained for seven days.

A 32-year-old woman was charged in connection with the murder on Thursday.

Detectives were earlier granted an extra 36 hours to question a 28-year-old man who was arrested on Tuesday in connection with the incident.

Another woman of 39 has been released unconditionally.

Three men, aged 26, 31 and 36, have been released on police bail.

It is believed a dispute between the two groups started when a house was attacked in Haywood Way on Saturday.

The trouble then moved to Rooney Park, where at least two shots were fired in the street. The attackers fled the scene.
