Garda Ombudsman investigates case of man in garda custody rushed to hospital

The Garda Ombudsman has launched an investigation into a seriously ill man who was rushed to hospital while in custody.

In a statement GSOC says the 37-year-old appeared to be intoxicated when he was arrested at Whitehall garda station in Dublin at around 9pm last night.

He later became ill and was taken by ambulance to the Mater Hospital.

He has since been moved to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as serious.

GSOC is looking for anyone who may have information in particular a taxi driver who brought the man into Whitehall garda station last night.
