Employment prospects to dominate ASTI conference
The future employment prospects of teachers will dominate the annual conference of the Association of Secondary Teachers (ASTI) today.
Education Minister Ruairi Quinn will this evening address delegates at the conference, which is taking place in Cork.
Last night, he warned those gathered at the INTO conference for primary school teachers of further difficult and painful decisions ahead.
The annual conference of the Teachers Union of Ireland also gets underway in Kerry later.
General Secretary Peter Mc Menamin said one of its objectives was to see a new apprenticeship scheme introduced.
