An organisation representing doctors has said Ireland is facing a critical shortage of trainees.

The Irish Hospitals Consultants Association said Ireland was once a good place for doctors to work, but that is no longer the case.

They claim there has been a steady and significant decline in non-consultant hospital doctor numbers in the last 12 to 18 months, with hundreds of positions not being filled.
