Two English men have been arrested in Dublin today in connection with a seizure of drugs.

Two English men have been arrested in Dublin today in connection with a seizure of drugs.

Around 60kgs of herbal cannabis with an estimated street value of €720,000 was recovered from a business premises in the city.

It is believed the haul was smuggled through Dublin Port hidden in dust extractor fans. The two men, aged 35 and 37, were detained after detectives raided the premises in Drumcondra, on the city’s northside, yesterday.

They are being questioned at Store Street garda station under the Drug Trafficking Act.

The operation was part of a joint investigation by the Garda National Drugs Unit and Customs officers at Dublin Port.

Customs said the drugs were imported from Cyprus, through the Netherlands.

After it was detected at Dublin Port, officers allowed the stash to be transported to the business premises under surveillance.

A Customs spokesman said: “Investigations are ongoing.”
