Deirdre McCarthy post mortem results due today

Post mortem results are due on the body of Deirdre McCarthy, the 43-year-old whose body was discovered on Fanore Strand in Co Clare on Thursday morning.

She had suffered a violent death.

Superintendent John Gillgan yesterday appealed for the public's help in tracing Deirdre McCarthy's last movements.

Gardaí are in particular appealing to anyone who noticed suspicious activity in the vicinity of Turlough house, or on the roads in and out of Ballyvaughan, Lisdoonvarna, or Kilfanora, between 11.30pm last Sunday night and 7am on Monday morning to come forward.
