DSPCA seeks ministerial meeting ahead of Smithfield horse fair
The DSPCA is seeking an urgent meeting with the Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Innovation ahead of this Sunday's Smithfield horse fair in Dublin.
Minister Richard Bruton this week said he would seek legal advice on closing the market.
At last month's event, two men were shot and another was injured with a slash hook.
The Dublin Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has welcomed Minister Bruton's announcement, but wants to meet him today to discuss how closure might be urgently achieved.
