Cork device 'viable'

The Army has confirmed that the device found in a garden in Farranree in Cork was viable.

The Army Bomb Disposal Unit have safely removed it from the scene.

It is now being transported to a safe place where it can be destroyed.

Residents have now been allowed back into their homes following an earlier evacuation.

The device was contained in a white plastic bag which was found in the garden of a house at around 10.30am.

The passenger window of a car which was parked outside the house was also smashed and the vehicle has been taken away for examination.
