Fitzgerald: Phone-tapping claims 'very serious'

A member of the Cabinet has described as "extremely serious" claims that the phone lines of Mr Justice Michael Moriarty at Dublin Castle may have been tapped.

A member of the Cabinet has described as "extremely serious" claims that the phone lines of Mr Justice Michael Moriarty at Dublin Castle may have been tapped.

Gardaí are investigating the claims after Mr Justice Moriarty reported hearing strange noises on his telephone line.

Children's Minister Frances Fitzgerald said if anything suspicious is found, an inquiry would have to be established by the Justice Minister.
