Workers clean up after torrent of water in Cork city
A major clean up operation is underway in Cork city after a mains-pipe burst overnight, forcing the evacuation of more than 30 residents from their homes.
It happened on Old Youghal Road at around 2.30am this morning and sent tens of thousands of gallons of water flooding through the Fever Hospital Steps near Murphy’s Brewery.
Four units of Cork City Fire Brigade responded and evacuated residents from Shandon Court and Shandon View Cottages.
One member of the HSE ambulance service was injured, after he was knocked over by the force of the torrent.
