Greens gather for 're-energising' talks

The Greens are gathering in Dublin in the coming hours for the first time since their dismal General Election performance.

All six TDs lost their seats and John Gormley announced he would step down as party leader in May.

The "Re-gather and Re-focus" event was initiated by members with endorsement from the National Executive Committee.

It is designed to start a process of strategic review to re-energise the Greens in Ireland.

The primary outcomes from the day will feed into a second members' meeting, which is expected to coincide with the party’s AGM in May.

The views, ideas and opinions emerging from these meetings will form the backbone of a new strategic plan for the party in the run-up to the next local elections in 2014.
