Stricter controls are being put on the food that the Republic of Ireland imports from Japan.

Stricter controls are being put on the food that the Republic of Ireland imports from Japan.

It comes after an earthquake and tsunami two weeks ago which devastated the region and spearked fears over contamination.

The Food Safety Authority said Ireland will limit food imports from twelve localities in Japan where production could be affected by the incident at the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant.
