Quinn: No guarantees that frontline spending will be protected

Education Minister Ruairi Quinn said today that he can't categorically guarantee that frontline spending in his department will be protected, because the country is no longer in control of its own financial affairs.

Mr Quinn has also announced he will not re-visit the cap on Special Needs Assistant posts in schools, but will work with better management of the system.
