Pipe bomb found in Belfast

Police are investigating the discovery of a pipe bomb in north Belfast.

Army explosives experts have confirmed the suspicious object found in the Shanlieve Park area at 4pm yesterday was a viable device.

A number of homes were evacuated as a security operation was launched.

The pipe bomb was taken away for further examination.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.
