Nigerian man given six-year sentence for raping young woman

A Nigerian man has been sentenced to six years and two months at the Central Criminal Court for raping a young woman in a Dublin apartment after a night out almost two years ago.

John Noghayin, aged 29, of Cabra Park, Dublin 7, was convicted by a jury last month of raping and sexually assaulting the woman at a Dublin address on May 3, 2009.

He had pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.
